Celestron Oceana 7×50 Marine Binoculars
HookBuzz.com recently tested the Celestron Oceana 7×50 Marine Binoculars for the approaching fishing/diving/sailing season. The HookBuzz crew was quite pleased with the binoculars’ performance and durability. The crew reported being most pleased with the image clarity and stability, which is due in part to the wide stance these binoculars maintain. Clarity and stability are vital to anyone who constantly has their eyes in the cups for extended periods of time. Focusing on targets while underway, even from elevated viewpoints, was not an issue and allowed for longer viewing with no eye-strain.
The internal compass is an essential attribute of the Celestron Oceana. This feature comes in handy when relaying quick navigational references or pinpointing locations of crashing fish and bait balls from a tuna tower. The night illumination is especially helpful during twilight hours in the busy shipping lanes of the Catalina Channel. Using the horizontal/vertical reticules we found the calculations on the lens cap dial to be rather accurate based on the GPS distances to the targets.
The HookBuzz.com crew was more than happy with the addition of these durable binoculars on our boat. Given Celestron’s reputation, we had an idea that these binoculars would be a valuable asset. After using the Celestron Oceana 7×50, we are convinced that the unique features combined with the competitive price make the binoculars a great buy!
